AMC-12 Launch Details Revealed
International Launch Services revealed the details of the AMC-12 satellite launch scheduled for Feb. 2. The launch window will open at 9:27 p.m. EST. The launch will take place at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan and the satellite will be lifted into orbit onboard a Proton M/Breeze M rocket.
AMC-12 was built by Alcatel Space for SES Americom and is based on the Spacebus 4000 platform. It is the first Spacebus 4000 to be launched into orbit. The satellite will carry 72 C-band transponders and three regional beams. It will reside at 37.5 degrees West and will support a range of communications applications. The satellite has an anticipated life of 16 years. The launch is the first ILS Proton launch for 2005.
