iDirect Technologies has signed an agreement with Pronto Networks to incorporate the company’s operations support system (OSS) into its product offering to deliver last mile wireless connectivity via satellite. The agreement will make iDirect a preferred reseller of Pronto Networks’ solutions to the VSAT industry and will allow new or existing iDirect customers to deploy and manage large-scale public hot spots and hot zone networks.

Pronto’s OSS software handles provisioning, configuration, authentication, access control, security, pre-paid and post-paid billing and roaming settlement for large public WLAN networks.

“This is a great opportunity to work with a leader in the satellite broadband access space to bring reliable wireless access to potentially millions of end users,” Jasbir Singh, president and CEO of Pronto, said in a prepared statement. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
