French satellite pay-TV operator, CanalSatellite has passed the three million subscribers mark. The operator had a strong 2004 year adding 240,000 subscribers. The operator competes in the vibrant French pay-TV market that only two platforms, CanalSatellite and TPS, share. TPS recently announced that it had ended 2004 with 1.4 million DTH subscribers in France. TPS added over 200,000 DTH subscribers in 2004.

CanalSatellite also announced that its churn rate in 2004 reached 8.1 percent, down from 9.1 percent in 2003. The operator has added more than 30 new channels over the past three years. In September last year, it launched channels such as the Discovery Channel and E! Entertainment as it aims to keep its market leading position in France.
