Globalstar announced the commercial availability of its Quick Locate service, which enables businesses and individuals to track assets that are remotely located or in areas not traditionally covered by terrestrial wireless services. The service, with monthly fees starting at $34.95, determines the location of telemetry units attached to assets based on a 9-byte message the unit sends out, which includes GPS coordinates six times daily through the company’s satellite network.
