Telesat said last week that it acquired The Spaceconnection Inc., a provider of programming-related satellite transmission services to U.S. television net-works and cable programmers. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but Telesat said Robert Patterson will remain president and CEO of the company he founded in 1987.

“Spaceconnection will play an important role in Telesat’s growth strategy throughout the Americas,” said Telesat President and CEO Larry Boisvert in a prepared statement. “At Telesat, we see huge potential in high-definition television and in providing occasional use of satellite services to broadcasters, cable programmers and other businesses. Telesat’s team is excited about serving these markets even more comprehensively through Spaceconnection.”
