The Russian News & Information Agency reported on its Web site that a Cyclone-3 rocket carrying the Sich-1M satellite is to be launched from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome on Dec. 24 at 2:20 p.m. Moscow time. The Plesetsk is in the Archangel region of Russia, about 800 kilometers north of Moscow.
According to the report, the Sich-1M satellite, built by Yangel Design Bureau Yuzhnoye will monitor the Earth in infrared and microwave bands for economic purposes and will be used in other scientific experiments.
