Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) said that won a contract from EchoStar Communications Corp. to build that company’s EchoStar 11 direct broadcast satellite. The satellite will be based on SS/L’s 1300 platform and will serve as a backup to EchoStar’s existing fleet of satellites. SS/L said the satellite is slated for an early 2007 delivery date. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but SS/L said the contract is subject to standard bankruptcy court approval.
