Astro All Asia Networks (Astro), the satellite pay-TV operator in Malaysia, has announced that it reached 1.471 million subscribers at the end of October 2004 in its third quarter results. It added almost 85,000 new residential subscribers in the quarter. This represents a 29 percent of Malaysian TV households. The increase was especially positive considering that Astro only added 47,000 subscibers in the second quarter. Astro attributes the increase to strong content, as well as 15,000 reconnections to its service from customers who had previously churned. Churn rate is also down to about 9.2 percent.

Astro dominates the pay-TV landscape in Malaysia and is one of the top satellite pay-TV operators in the region.
