Companies Seize The Moment In Wake of IA-7 Failure
The failure of the Intelsat Americas-7 satellite has a few companies stepping up to help reconnect customers of Starband Communications Inc. left stranded without Internet service.
Once such company is Skycasters LLC, which announced the launch of a new program, named Emergency Response Program, offers customers Direcway equipment and services at what the company called “attractive prices,” although those prices were not disclosed in the announcement. The company said it is offering expedited installation as well. Installation will be carried out by VSATIC, which will be installing Direcway systems in five business days, down from the normal two-week installation time.
“In today’s competitive market, businesses lose money when their broadband service goes down,” Skycasters President Don Jacobs said in the release. “This crisis knocks out more Internet users than were effected by all the hurricanes this fall. We have to help these people.”
