Broadband Pay-TV Option Now Available In Sweden
Viasat Broadcasting has launched its pay-TV services via broadband offering in Sweden. The initial rollout will see 300,000 households in 50 Swedish cities able to gain these services. Modern Times Group (MTG), the parent company of Viasat, close a deal with broadband network operator Bredbandsbolaget (B2) in August this year to offer services to the customers connected to B2’s fibre network. Viasat is also one of the leading providers of pay-TV services via satellite across the Nordic region.
Viasat’s complete pay-TV package will cost the same as it does for subscribers who gain it via the DTH platform. Hans-Holger Albrecht, CEO of MTG commented, “This offer again increases choice for viewers and strengthens Viasat´s position as a multi-platform pay-TV operator and channel provider, acting independently across multiple distribution networks. The offer is the first of its kind in Sweden and delivery of content via broadband is expected to grow rapidly in the next few years.”
