At Press Time: ADL Challenges Hezbollah Satellite Network
Satellite News has learned that the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is appealing to the French government to order the French Broadcasting Agency to terminate the broadcast license of Al-Manar, the satellite network of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in France. In allowing Al-Manar to continue broadcasting, the French Broadcasting Agency ignored a recommendation from the Interior Ministry to halt transmissions of the satellite network into France.
According to reports, ADL National Director Abraham Foxman said in a letter to French President Jacques Chirac that allowing the broadcasts to continue “undermines the significant progress that the Government of France has made in the last year to combat the anti-Jewish and incendiary anti-Israel environment that exists in some sectors of French Society.”
ADL contends that the network continually broadcasts anti-Jewish and anti-Israel messages, it glorifies terrorism against Western citizens and it acts as a conduit for soliciting funds for Hezbollah though on-air activities as well as through the network’s Web site.
