- The Export-Import Bank of the United States today announced it has approved a $138-million long-term loan guarantee to help Binariang Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to purchase a telecom and broadcasting satellite from Boeing Satellite Systems Inc.
- Viaccess, a leading Conditional Access (CA) company, has announced that French satellite pay-TV operator TPS is to deploy its PC2.5 smart cards to its new subscribers. Viaccess launched the PC2.5 card in June 2003. TPS counts about 1.3 million pay-TV subscribers in France. Jean-Pierre Coustel, Viaccess’s CEO hailed the deal. He commented, “Security is our highest concern. We are very proud of the confidence TPS places into Viaccess PC2.5, the best system available to prevent and combat piracy. We are convinced this move will help TPS increase its subscriber base. With more than two million PC2.5 delivered in less than 16 months, Viaccess is today the third independent content protection specialist worldwide.”
