Astra Prepares For New HD Broadcast

In another boost for high-definition television (HDTV) in Europe, SES Astra is once again teaming with ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion for another simultaneous HD and SD forecast later this month. This time, it will take place Nov. 29-30, with the showing of a two-part movie, “Die Nibelungen – Der Fluch des Drachen (The Nibelungen – The Curse of the Dragon).” The visual experience will be completed with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound.
The movie will be shown on Sat.1 as well as via ASTRA 19.2 degrees East in the new HDTV standard. Sat.1 viewers will need the appropriate receiving equipment to witness the movie in HD.
