Lockheed Martin Deploys Iraq Network-Centric Satellite System

By Staff Writer | November 15, 2004

Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed Martin [LMT] completed installation of a new network-centric satellite communications system for use by coalition forces in Iraq. The Coalition Multinational Network (CMN), developed for U.S. Central Command, provides satellite-based, bandwidth-on-demand services for military forces. The system, funded by a U.S. Army Rapid Response Program contract awarded last year, reduces satellite-leasing requirements by 60 percent, compared with current conventional technology.

In addition, the direct terminal-to-terminal connectivity uses only a single satellite hop that reduces satellite delay by 50 percent.
