Iridium Satellite LLC said 2,500 aircraft have been fitted with Iridium satellite communications equipment, and the market is growing at a rate of more than 100 percent annually. “One of the reasons for our substantial growth in the aero market has been the alliances with specialized key service providers, value-added manufacturers and value- added resellers with technical expertise and marketing expertise in satellite communications technology in the aviation market,” Iridium Chairman and CEO Carmen Lloyd said in a statement.
