Foxtel Revels In Digital Performance

By Staff Writer | November 1, 2004

Foxtel, the Australian pay-TV operator, announced some impressive new ratings figures that show the strong performance of subscription television. In the latest week ending Oct. 30, subscription television’s share of viewing in subscription television homes reached 55.3 percent, compared with 49 percent for the equivalent week in 2003. According to Foxtel, one of the major drivers of this performance was the recent live coverage of the Australia-India Cricket tour.

Foxtel execs apparently are delighted with the performance. Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s executive director of television and marketing, commented, “Subscription television historically achieves its peak annual shares of viewing over the summer. We are now well-positioned to achieve record shares in the 2004-05 summer season and with some of the hottest programming in years.”
