StarBand Partners With C-COM

      McLean, Va.-based StarBand, a high-speed, two-way satellite Internet provider, is teaming with C-COM Satellite Systems to launch a self-pointing, mobile, high- speed Internet service. The partnership provides a new level of flexibility in delivering StarBand’s two-way, high-speed Internet service via satellite, the partners said. No pricing information was released.

      The new service will target RV owners, police departments, emergency services, government agencies and others requiring high-speed Internet connection while they travel virtually anywhere in the country.

      Along with the launch of this service, StarBand announced the introduction of the StarBand 481 Residential service, which provides residential customers upload speeds as fast as 100 Kbps; download speeds as fast as 500 Kbps; connectivity with Windows, Mac, Unix and Linux operating systems; and 10 e-mail accounts.
