According to Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. [GILTF], Frisch’s Restaurants Inc. tapped Gilat’s U.S.-subsidiary Spacenet to provide a Connexstar broadband satellite network to 120 “Big Boy” and “Golden Corral” restaurants in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. The restaurants will use the Connexstar CX-500 network to run a broad range of IP-based applications, including high-speed credit- and gift-card authorization, point-of-sale polling and corporate intranet applications. Frisch’s also plans to expand its use of Connexstar to include broadband video surveillance and interactive distance learning. Financial terms of the network deployment were not disclosed.
