AsiaSat CEO Hopes ‘Sluggish’ Market Will Pick Up

By Staff Writer | May 28, 2004

AsiaSat CEO Peter Jackson believes market conditions are likely to remain difficult for satellite operators in Asia, and an upsurge in fortunes could be more than a year away. He told Satellite Today, “Despite some economic improvement, the Asian transponder market remains sluggish. This is because the transponder market usually lags behind the economic recovery, so I think it is very unlikely that we will see a dramatic increase this year or even at the beginning of next year.”
