New Skies The Latest Operator In Play

New Skies Satellites N.V. [NSK] confirmed Friday it is working with Goldman Sachs to explore ‘alternatives’ in light of its recent unsuccessful attempt to buy its bigger rival PanAmSat [SPOT].

“New Skies did explore, with the assistance of Goldman Sachs, a possible role for the company in connection with the recently concluded auction of PanAmSat Corp,” acknowledged spokeswoman Elizabeth Hess. “The company is continuing to consider various alternatives available to it. However, there can be no assurance that the company’s consideration of such alternatives will result in any extraordinary transaction. The company does not intend to comment further on this matter.”
