Hughes Network Systems (HNS) has begun initial network operations at its new North Las Vegas, Nev., location. The West Coast operations center for the Germantown, Md.- based satellite operator will become a key site for managing its DirecWay broadband satellite service and its next-generation SpaceWay Ka-band satellite system scheduled for launch next year.
