SES Americom, the U.S. subsidiary of Luxembourg-based SES Global [Luxembourg: SESG], and Cyprus-based Iris Gateway Satellite Services have signed a joint agreement to provide pan-European digital satellite services through its SIRIUS 2 satellite and Iris’ Cyprus teleport. The deal combines a dedicated transponder on the SIRIUS 2 satellite and a multi-channel MPEG-2/DVB digital platform at the Cyprus teleport. Services to be provided include the distribution of digital television programs with audio and data services to cable headends, point-to-point links, direct-to-home programming and occasional use services.
