ORBCOMM, a Dulles, Va.-basedsatellite communications company, has signed an agreement with ALDATA Software Management to provide data communication services for ALDATA’s on-board truck and heavy equipment computer system, known as TAGASIS (Time Activity And Sensor Integration System). Financial terms were not disclosed.

ORBCOMM’s satellites will transmit GPS and other operating data from the TAGASIS onboard unit to ALDATA’s web site to allow customers to monitor location, productivity, and safety of vehicles and equipment. The system also allows for two-way text messaging to put fleet managers in touch with operators in remote locations.
