Hughes, ChinaCast Ink Network Deal

Hughes Network Systems, a Germantown, Md.-based satellite broadband unit of Hughes Electronics [NYSE: GMH], has signed a deal to provide Chinese satellite service provider ChinaCast with a DirecWay broadband satellite network, including a network operations center and DW4020 remote satellite terminals. In addition, the companies signed a strategic relationship agreement to jointly market enterprise networking services in China. Currently offering satellite services using HNS’ one- way broadband terminals, ChinaCast now is able to offer new two-way broadband satellite services to the corporate data network market utilizing DirecWay.
