Globecomm Wins $13.8 Million Contract

      Hauppauge, N.Y.-based Globecomm Systems [Nasdaq: GCOM] has been awarded a $13.8 million contract to provide an unidentified foreign customer with a satellite-based communication solution for the transfer of wide-band data and telephony information. The company didn’t reveal the name of the foreign customer. Under the terms of the contract, Globecomm will provide the client with multiple satellite communication terminals, which will be incorporated into vehicles to support mobile communications, two fixed satellite communication ground stations, four “fly away” ground stations and program management. An export license is required for certain portions of the program, and the company’s application for the license is currently in the approval process, Globecomm officials said. The project is scheduled for completion in 22 months.
