Michael Canning has been named president and chief executive officer at SiRF Technology, a San Jose, Calif.-based provider of GPS-enabled chipsets and software location platforms. Canning joins SiRF from Cirrus Logic, where he was president of the company’s mass storage business segment. He also was president of Stream Machine Co. when it was acquired by Cirrus Logic.
