Stratos Signs Contract with Oilfield Services Company

Stratos, a Bethesda, Md.-based provider of remote communications solutions and services, has been awarded a five-year contract to upgrade and enhance the satellite-based communications infrastructure on the Ramform Banff, a floating production, storage and off-loading (FPSO) vessel operated by PGS Production in the British sector of the North Sea.
The contract includes two stabilized VSATs, space segment, and fiber optic backhauls to several locations. The Banff is a specialized FPSO with unique characteristics that called for Stratos to design a tailored technical solution that would meet the communications needs of PGS.
