Hong Kong-based pay TV operator Galaxy Satellite Broadcasting has awarded a contract to Tandberg Television to provide a satellite transmission system for Galaxy in Asia. Under the contract, Tandberg will provide a compression and broadcast delivery system, as well as service expertise to manage the integration of third-party solutions such as conditional access, subscriber management, middleware and set-top-boxes.

The Galaxy service will be uplinked from Galaxy’s teleport in Hong Kong over an Intelsat VII satellite and downlinked to roof-top receiving dishes. Existing in-building wiring will deliver the service to individual subscriber apartments.
