Motorola Demonstrates Multimedia Home Platform Technology

Motorola’s [NYSE: MOT] Broadband Communications Sector is launching its recently acquired Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) software on its interactive digital set-top boxes. With the integration of MHP technology into its set-tops underway, Motorola is working with MHP application providers to deliver interactive home media applications.

Motorola said satellite, cable and terrestrial operators would benefit from the software in terms of greater flexibility in deploying comprehensive, cost-effective interactive applications from MHP application providers. The MHP has embedded applications including electronic program guides, navigation, games and applications downloaded from a cable transport stream in addition to standard set-top functions implemented on the Motorola DVi3000.
