Star One, which provides satellites services in Latin America, has expanded by nearly 50 percent the amount of capacity it leases on Dutch satellite firm New Skies Satellite‘s [NYSE: NSK] high-power NSS-7 satellite. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Star One, a subsidiary of Embratel [NYSE: EMT], serves the growing consumer and corporate broadband Internet service markets in Brazil. To access NSS- 7, Star One has installed a new antenna at its primary teleport facility in Guaratiba in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
