Santanu Dutta has joined Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV), a Reston, Va.-based provider of mobile satellite communications services, as vice president of systems engineering. Dutta will be responsible for the system architecture of MSV’s next-generation system.

Dutta joins MSV from Ericsson Mobile Platforms, headquartered in Sweden, where he served as development manager in Ericsson’s Systems Analysis & Research division. There, he led a systems engineering and business development team responsible for competitive analysis of the mobile phone operator’s expansion into cellular 2.5 and 3G markets. He also led Ericsson’s m-commerce activities and managed a satellite research group responsible for standardizing the GMR-2 air interface standard.
