Impact Labs, AOS Demonstrate Medical Images Via Satellite
Columbia, Md.-based Impact Labs and London-based AOS are demonstrating a system for compressing, securing, transmitting, and viewing DICOM-compliant medical images through the use of satellite terminals at the American Telemedicine Association meeting scheduled next week in Orlando, Fla.
Based on Impact Master Archive image compression and encryption software developed by Impact Labs and Inmarsat satellite terminals and communications services provided by AOS, the system reduces bottlenecks, speeding the delivery of medical images. Because it uses satellite-based networks, the system can be used for remote or emergency medical situations where landline or wireless communications services are unavailable, the companies said.
