Arianespace is expected to carry out a dual-payload launch Wednesday evening to lift PanAmSat‘s [Nasdaq: SPOT] Galaxy XII and India’s INSAT 3A satellites into orbit, following a one day delay caused by “minor” technical issues with the Indian satellite, industry sources said.

The launch of the Ariane 5 rocket, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed 24 hours when Indian officials asked for additional time to conduct further tests prior to liftoff, sources said. No additional launch delays are expected.

The Galaxy XII would help Wilton, Conn.-based PanAmSat to usher in its next-generation of satellites serving the needs of the cable industry, company officials said. Such a high-powered satellite is intended to deliver optimal performance from any of the company’s U.S. orbital locations. The satellite, built by Dulles, Va.-based Orbital Sciences [NYSE: ORB], would operate at 74 degrees West.
