Boeing Delta IV Launch Delayed for Weather
The planned launch Sunday night of Boeing‘s [NYSE: BA] Delta IV rocket from Cape Canaveral, Fla., was rescheduled for tonight after a forecast of 50 mph winds last night caused the launch to be postponed. The launch pad’s mobile service tower has been rolled back to provide protection to the rocket and the satellite payload. Engineers have performed a lock-down of the rocket and are using the extra time to make minor insulation repairs following last night’s launch attempt.
The 77-minute launch window opens at 6:42 p.m. EST. The Delta IV is scheduled to launch the Defense Satellite Communications System spacecraft, DSCS III A3, for the U.S. Air Force.
