Canadian firm Norsat International [Nasdaq: NSAT] (Burnaby, British Columbia) has deployed three Norsat NewsLink portable satellite terminals in Kuwait.

The units, two of which were purchased by New York City-based Viacom [NYSE: VIA] subsidiary CBS News and a third by an unnamed U.S. network news organization, have been tested and are ready for news gathering operations. Within days, the networks are expecting to broadcast live images from the frontlines, company officials said. The terminals will allow these news broadcasters to file reports from remote areas.
