Comtech Finalizes $23.5M Contract for Army Tracking and Messaging System

Comtech Telecommunications [Nasdaq: CMTL] has finalized a contract with an unidentified U.S. government contractor for satellite-based location tracking and messaging system and services.

The $23.5 million contract, which was awarded to the company’s Comtech Mobile Datacom subsidiary (Germantown, Md.), involves the integration of Comtech’s mobile terminal transceivers into the contractor’s command and control systems that will provide terrestrial line-of-sight and satellite capability for messaging and position reporting to the U.S. Army. Comtech will supply mobile terminal transceivers, lease satellite capacity, operate the satellite packet data network and associated systems support and maintenance.
