Satellite broadcast services provider GlobeCast has launched a digital direct-to-home platform on a Eutelsat HOT BIRD satellite. The France Telecom [NYSE: FTE] subsidiary’s new proprietary DTH platform will operate on the satellite via its digital teleport and broadcast center in London.

The new platform will add to GlobeCast’s five existing HOT BIRD platforms, one via London and four via Paris. It also will significantly expand GlobeCast’s (Paris) DTH broadcast capacity over Europe, company officials said.
