Sutron has received a $445,000 contract for a meteorlogical-hydrological project from Venezuelan electricity provider CVG Electrificacion del Caroni (EDELCA).

Under the contract, Sutron (Sterling, Va.) will provide remote hydro-met stations to monitor hydropower generation in Venezuela’s Caroni Basin. Data collected from Sutron’s remote stations will be transmitted via its multi-satellite logger/transmitter system, SatLink, to a GOES satellite. EDELCA’s data processing office in Macagua will receive the satellitetransmission, then retransmit the data by landline to the forecast center in Caracas. The center makes the data available to large users for future planning, design, construction, operation and transmission of electrical power.
