Conexant Introduces Low-Power Satellite Demodulator

By Staff Writer | January 13, 2003

Conexant Systems Inc. [Nasdaq: CNXT], which supplies semiconductor systems for communications applications, has introduced a low-power demodulator and forward error correction (FEC) decoder for satellite set-top boxes, PC receivers, personal video recorders and residential gateways.

Satellite demodulators convert analog signals, coming from tuners, into digital signals, check them for errors, and then output digital data transport streams to audio/video decoder chips. The single-stream CX24123 supports symbol rates of 1 to -45 megasymbols per second, and requires 0.5 watts of power to operate. When used in conjunction with Conexant’s CX24109 satellite tuner, it forms a complete satellite front-end system.
