A – Touristik Radyo has been replaced by TRT Radyo 1 on the 8.10/8.28 MHz audio sub-carriers on the back of TRT 1 at 11174 MHz horizontal. Touristik Radyo can now be found alongside TRT 3 at 11494 MHz horizontal, 8.10/8.28 MHz. TRT Radyo 3 has launched on the back of TRT 3 at 11465 MHz horizontal in clear Pal on the 7.02/7.20 MHz audio sub-carriers. TRT Radyo 1 can also be heard here via 7.74/7.92 MHz.

D – Nouakchott Radio from Mauritania can be heard via two streams alongside Télévision Nationale de Mauritanie (TVM) at 3913 MHz RHCP, SR 8148, FEC 3/4, APID 1621 & 1637. TVM uses Arabsat 2B’s medium C-Band beam which delivers 35 dBW at the beam centre over northern Africa decreasing to 31 dBW over southern England requiring a dish size here of around 5 metres plus.

D – Sky World Cup Arena is testing on 11992 MHz horizontal, SR 27500, FEC 2/3, APID 2309 in clear MPEG-2. Two of Flextech’s lifestyle channels, Living TV (Sky Digital Ch.112, 11739 MHz vertical) and Granada Plus (Sky Ch.118, 12226 MHz horizontal) are to switch to 24 hour broadcasting from 17 June. At present both channels close at 02:00 and re-open at 06:00. Apna Radio has returned to 12344 MHz horizontal, A2342 after a short break. Sky Sports 1-3 in Pubs was free-to-air on 11934 MHz vertical, SR 27500, FEC 2/3, VPID 2305, APID 2306 for several days last week but has now switched back to encryption. Chinese language channel PCNE has left 11758 MHz horizontal and 12110 MHz horizontal. Sky Box Office 36, 37, 38 & 39 plus Sky Travel were all free-to-air on 10921 MHz horizontal for a couple of days last week. They have now returned to their usual Videoguard encoding. Bingo TV carried out some test transmissions on 17 May on 11546 MHz horizontal. When the channel officially launches next month it is expected to be placed at Ch.229 in the Sky Digital EPG. Urdu language channel ARY Digital held a ‘Free Weekend’ on 18 & 19 May. It is located at Ch.812. Rapture TV, the channel aimed at those into the ‘clubbing scene’ looks to be returning to our screens. The channel, which will reappear as more of a general entertainment outlet in a bid to become a little more mainstream, will launch in mid-June and will once again be in the Sky Digital line-up. attheraces has launched and appears in the Sky EPG at Ch.418. The channel will be available to all Sky subscribers at no extra cost.

Ajman TV from the Emirates has left 12620 MHz vertical.

It has reappeared at 12663 MHz horizontal, SR 22000, FEC 5/6 where it has replaced the Sat-Speed IP service. It’s Cannes Film Festival time again and TV Festival has launched in the French Canal Satellite package on 11739 MHz vertical, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, VPID 160, APID 80. It temporarily replaces Cine Cinemas 16:9 for the duration of the movie extravaganza on the Cote d’Azur. Sonnenklar TV has joined the German Premiere package at 12090 MHz vertical, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, VPID 1023, APID 1024 in clear MPEG-2.
A – The transponder share between SES Global, Bloomberg TV UK and SF B1 has ceased at 11568 MHz vertical. All of these channels can still be found on 11171 MHz horizontal. Radio Horeb has been replaced by Radio Maria Deutschland on the back of ZDF at 10964 MHz horizontal, 7.56 MHz ADR. BR Alpha has launched on 11082 MHz horizontal in clear Pal with audio via 7.02/7.20 MHz. It is accompanied by five ADR radio stations, namely Swiss Jazz – 7.56 MHz, Virus – 7.74 MHz, SRI English – 7.92 MHz, Swiss Pop – 8.10 MHz and Swiss Classic – 8.28 MHz.

Le Cinema is testing in free-to-air MPEG-2 in the PolSat bouquet at 12360 MHz horizontal, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, VPID 353, APID 354.Several channels have left the OTE digital platform for Greece. Extreme Sport, Hallmark Entertainment Greece, Mezzo, MCM Europe, NET 105.8, ERA 2, ERA 3, ERA Spor and Skai 100.3FM have all disappeared from the line-up on 12188 MHz vertical, SR 27500, FEC 3/4. The first Europe-wide TV channel for gays and lesbians has officially launched. Gay.tv is using 12149 MHz vertical, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, VPID 36, APID 37, home of the Sitcom package. Gay.tv is Netherlands-based but uses studio facilities in Milan. Polish channel Tele Uniwersytet has started a part time service in the Cyfra+ package at 12360 MHz horizontal, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, VPID 549, APID 550 in MPEG-2/Nagravision. In the Television par Satellite multiplex at 11034 MHz vertical, SR 27500, FEC 3/4 Canal Promo Distributeur is new on PIDs V720, A730 in Viaccess encoded MPEG-2. RTL Schweiz has replaced RTL Oesterreich on 11054 MHz horizontal, SR 27500, FEC 5/6, VPID 580, APID 584, home of the Deutsche Telekom bouquet, in Cryptoworks encoded MPEG-2

D – A VSAT system is being installed at Radio Television Afghanistan in Kabul to enable programming from Radio Afghanistan to be fed back to Norway where they will be rebroadcast back to the citizens of Afghanistan via shortwave. The VSAT link may well use Eutelsat W1 capacity.

Frisko Carte d’Or is new in the Viasat package at 11881 MHz horizontal, SR 27500, FEC 3/4, VPID 8191, APID 5166 although no programming has materialised yet. TemTV Estonia and TemTV Lithuania have left this Viasat multiplex. They were supplying relays of Russia’s Ostankino TV to the Baltic states. Russia’s independent commercial TV channel, TV6 Moskva, which went into liquidation in January looks set for a comeback. The channel, which is broadcast terrestrially in many parts of Russia as well as via satellite, has been acquired by the Media-Sotsium consortium headed by a former TV6 director and promises to be back on air on or around 26 May. In addition to outlets on LMI 1 at 75 degrees East and Eutelsat W4 at 36 degrees East TV6 was also broadcasting on 12380 MHz horizontal via Sirius. This stream has been airing a standard Russian testcard since the demise of the channel.

The digital package for Finland on 12399 MHz horizontal, SR 28000, FEC 7/8 which contained TV Finland, Urheilukanava, Nelonen, MTV3, SubTV, Nelonen+ and YLEsat 3 has left the frequency and reappeared at 12052 MHz horizontal, SR 28000, FEC 7/8 encoded in Conax. New Films Cinema and TV SKAT are new in the Bulgarian bouquet at 12169 MHz horizontal, SR 28000, FEC 7/8, VPIDs 512/520, APIDs 640/672. Both channels are free-to-air for the time being but are likely to encrypt soon.
A – The D2 MAC signal from TV2 Norway on 11261 MHz is now free-to-air. TV2 will switch off their D2 MAC outlet soon.

During the early evenings several RTL regional feeds can be found here. 11519 MHz vertical, SR 6665, FEC 7/8, VPID 512, APID 640 carries Cologne and Hannover feed traffic. RTL Berlin use 11530 MHz vertical, SR 6665, FEC 7/8, V512, A640; RTL Schleswig-Holstein are on 11537 MHz vertical, SR 4443, FEC 3/4, V308, A256; RTL Lower Saxony at 11543 MHz vertical, SR 4443, FEC 3/4, V308, A256 and RTL Hesse on 11549 MHz vertical, SR 4443, FEC 3/4, V308, A256. All use free-to-air MPEG-2. Live and recorded material from the Cannes Film Festival was relayed on 11666 MHz vertical, SR 21000, FEC 7/8 for Canal+ France on 15 May at 15:15.
