Kacific Broadband Satellites Group will provide high-speed satellite internet service to more than 75 health centers across the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. The South East Asian nation will use the internet service to launch and expand a national digital health registration software system by the end of July.

“The internet connection is crucial in helping us achieve the ultimate goal of using healthcare software in real time,” Timor-Leste Minister of Health Rui Maria de Araújo said in the announcement. “Timor-Leste will be able to manage its medical resources more efficiently to benefit patients.”

Kacific’s contract includes a planned upgrade for Timor-Leste’s healthcare broadband services following the activation of the operator’s new Kacific-1 satellite, which is scheduled for launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in late 2019.
