AsiaSat announced an expansion and renewal agreement with Speedcast to use multiple C- and Ku-band transponders on the new AsiaSat 9 satellite. This upgrade will enhance Speedcast’s managed network services for its customers in the mobility, maritime, energy, enterprise and government sectors, and for cellular backhaul solutions to emerging markets.

AsiaSat 9 has been in service at 122 degrees east since year-end 2017. The new agreement facilitates Speedcast’s access to the satellite’s beams serving East Asia, Indonesia and Myanmar, allowing the company to expand and upgrade its local communications networks.

“Our growing customer needs in this region warrant enhanced capacity that performs reliably and efficiently,” said Moti Shulman, Speedcast’s senior vice president of capacity management and network planning.
