Hispasat Sponsors Complutense University of Madrid’s Summer Courses
[Via Satellite 06-29-2015] Hispasat is continuing to support the Complutense University of Madrid’s Summer Courses, providing a link through the Hispasat 1D satellite at 30 degrees west for the courses until July 24 in San Lorenzo de El Escorial. Since the courses began, Hispasat has worked with the Complutense University, providing the technology solution that allows students to transmit television signals over a satellite link located in the Euroforum Infantes, where summer courses are held. News services and television programs have access to the link to send out the images and news updates on the courses that are prepared and distributed by the Complutense University’s production house (UCMTV).
The video carrier being used has a Digital Video Broadcast-Satellite (DVB-S) modulation and encoding system, a data rate of 4 Mbps, and 4 MHz of bandwidth. The transmitting ground station being used leverages a 1.2 m diameter antenna, a 4-W Block Upconverter (BUC) amplification system, a Low Noise Block (LNB) down converter receiving system, a DVB-S Modem modulation system, and an MPEG-2 video encoding system. Hispasat guarantees all technical maintenance of the satellite link over the entire duration of the courses.
Ignacio Sanchis, business director at Hispasat, will deliver the July 10 closing ceremony for the course “Television in the New Era” and will hand out diplomas to participants.
