[Via Satellite 11-10-2014] SageNet/Spacenet has selected Ku-band capacity on the SES 1 satellite to provide managed enterprise communications solutions for drilling rigs and electric and natural gas utilities. The additional bandwidth will provide drilling rig employees with voice and broadband communications.

In addition to serving oil and gas, SageNet/SpaceNet uses capacity on multiple SES satellites for markets such as retail and U.S. state lottery operations.

SageNet/Spacenet’s Energy Group is a specialized business unit focused exclusively solely to the global energy market. SES and SageNet/Spacenet signed the new capacity contract at OilComm 2014 in Houston, Texas.
