Inmarsat Teams Up with ThinKom for Global Xpress Terminals

[Via Satellite 09-17-2014] Inmarsat has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ThinKom Solutions to evaluate market opportunities for Communications-on-the-Move (COTM) applications using its antenna and product solutions. The partnership will center on developing terminals for Inmarsat’s Global Xpress High Throughput Satellite (HTS) network.

Inmarsat said COTM is the second phase of the company’s development strategy for providing Global Xpress service capabilities. More partnerships are expected over the next few months.

ThinKom provides compact broadband antennas and other products for COTM services. The company has an exclusive deal with Gogo for the manufacture of 2Ku antennas, which are expected to provide 70 Mbps of broadband.
