Globalstar Debuts New Satellite Hotspot Product: Globalstar 9600

[Via Satellite 09-04-2014] Globalstar has introduced a new satellite-enabled data solution for satellite phones and smartphones. The Globalstar 9600 can connect up to eight users at a time beyond the reach of cellular networks.

Starting at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $149.99, Globalstar is targeting customers in remote workforces such as mining, construction and maritime. Users can send email, access weather, send pictures and update social media through the Globalstar 9600.

Globalstar’s GSP-1700 and GSP 1600 satellite phones and the GSP-2900 fixed phone system can connect to the Globalstar 9600. The device weighs a total of 2 ounces, and can operate for 36 hours on standby or four hours of use on a single charge.
