[Via Satellite 05-19-2014] O3b Networks and FSM Telecom (FSMTC) forged a long-term agreement for O3b to provide its O3bTrunk service to Chuuk, the most populous of the four states of the Federated States of Micronesia, as well as some of the outer islands. This marks the second deal between the two companies, the first being a July 2013 agreement for O3b to cover the nearby island of Yap.

“O3b’s low latency transit Internet bandwidth will enable the population of Chuuk to enjoy the same level of experience as the rest of the world,” said John Sohl, president and CEO of FSMTC. “It is expected that high quality Internet access will boost tourism and enable citizens to enroll in interactive university courses, as well as bringing other benefits, both economic and social.”
