[Via Satellite 03-27-2014] Japan Airline (JAL) has selected Panasonic Avionics for an expansion of in-flight Wi-Fi for its international fleet, which includes Boeing 787s, 777-200ERs and 767-300ERs. Panasonic has been providing broadband Wi-Fi service on 13 of the airline’s 777’s international traveling routes since 2012, making JAL one of the first airlines to offer Internet access, email services, and more on flights between Japan and Europe and across the Pacific to North America.

Panasonic’s in-flight connectivity provides two-way broadband communications to the aircraft and supports Internet access for crew and passengers. It also gives the airline the ability to streamline its operations by enabling electronic flight bag, real-time weather updates and live engine monitoring among other services.
