[Via Satellite 10-24-13] Media Networks will provide its wholesale service in Ku-band satellite Internet (ISAT-KU) to Conekta, the satellite links division of the Peruvian operator Proveedor de Comunicaciones del Oriente (East Communications Provider).

The agreement will provide Conekta with an ISAT-KU offer dedicated to the corporate segment in the Peruvian Amazon, and allow the operator – based in Iquitos, the largest city in the Peruvian rainforest – to expand operations in the San Martin, Ucayali and Amazon regions. Conekta plans to serve public and private companies in cities and rural areas of the Amazon that currently lack access to terrestrial communications networks.

“We are very satisfied with this agreement, which will boost Conekta operation in the Peruvian Amazon and contributes to the development of telecommunications in the region,” said Juan Carlos Gonzalez, Media Networks commercial manager for South America.
