Cailabs has secured an order from Omani space communications company Durri Space for three optical ground stations under a deal announced Thursday.
Durri Space intends to operate an optical communications capability in Oman, and the company will own the resulting network. The company, which is part of defense and tech firm Enjaaz Group, looks to support Oman’s national space ambitions and provide services to international satellite operators.
Cailabs will provide its TILBA-optical ground station (OGS) L10 model, designed to support high-capacity space-to-ground links from satellites in Low-Earth Orbit (LEO). It is compliant with CCSDS and U.S. Space Development Agency (SDA) standards.
The partners also plan to support the development of talent and local expertise in Oman for optical communications.
“Oman has the geography and the ambition to play a meaningful role in the next generation of satellite communications. This network is the first step in building that capability in the Sultanate, and in developing the Omani talent who will lead it. We selected Cailabs because their technology is already proven in operation, and we look forward to opening this infrastructure to international satellite operators, commented Durri Space CEO Ahmed Al Fahdi.
